An enormous thank you is in order....

Okay, this might be a tad lengthy.  And no video for many reasons, one of which is I don't think I could do it without bawling, but I really wanted to come here and say thank you, so much thanks to jewells68, suzyquilts, craftsfromlove, hp5freak, clumsy_chord, vandachit, and ofenjen for the most wonderous thing that showed up in my mailbox yesterday. Well, not in my mailbox but on a chair near it on my porch. :D

Kind of funny story:I'd made an order from Amazon Marketplace for something and was expecting it soon.  My brother came in with a box that had been delivered for me, it had an Amazon logo on the side, so I assumed it was my order.  "Hmm," I thought, "that's kind of a large box for what I ordered, and is the seller just re-using Amazon boxes or are they providing them now?".  I let that thought flit out of my brain and opened the box, not looking at the mailing label.  Inside I found an envelope with my name beautifully written on the front and thought, "Boy, somebody's really angling for a good seller review!", and opened it.   First thing I saw was Jennifer's signature at the bottom of a note.  Jennifer? Why is Jennifer sending me something from Amazon?

Yeah, I was having a bit of a dense day. :D

Then I saw the list of names and items donated.  Then I pulled back the packing and found a label.  "Laura's Quilt", it said, with all your names. And of course a lovely note from Jennifer that included explaining who was involved.

I proceeded to unfold a glorious quilt covered with things from fandoms I love - a hobbit hole door and Star Trek quote blocks from Rainey; a TARDIS and Dalek block (plus the backing fabric) from Susan; the White Tree of Gondor and the One Ring from Amber; two 6th Doctor embroidered blocks from Kristel; Princess Leia (gone but not forgotten, RIP Carrie Fisher), and BB-8 from Vanda; the Gates of Mordor from Jennifer.  And from Jewells/Julia, who I am told masterminded the whole thing...Tolkien quotes, fandom fabrics (which I assume includes the Wonder Woman fabrics), plus the assembling of the quilt and the donated batting.  Jennifer quilted, bound, and labeled it.

You know there's a commercial for "Moana" (which I haven't seen yet) that has a scene with a startled looking chicken with its eyes bugging out.  That's kinda what I looked like for a minute.

And then I straight up went into a full-on ugly cry.  You know the kind - face drawn up, snot coming out of the nose, the whole package. My dog even came in and looked at me like, "What's wrong with you??".   Seriously, I was a mess, but in a good way.

I kept thinking about a Bette Midler song I liked many, many (many, many, so many) years ago, "Friends", all of which is amazingly appropriate for me right now.  At the end she joyously sings, "Look around me, all of my friends!!".

My friends, I have not a clue why I deserved such a thing or how I could ever repay your thoughtfulness, but I am deeply, profoundly touched. Your timing is excellent as well as I kind of needed something uplifting right now. Though it seems inadequate...thank you so very much. *hugs*

There is nothing to repay. We are friends, even though we're far away (look I even made a rhyme!).

Also, I can definitely recommend Moana, but I can't guarantee it won't make you cry, I know i did! But it was a good cry, for sure.

I am so happy to have contributed to this little project. You are one of the most unselfish, giving people I know of. A lot of people do not understand how much of yourself you have to give up to be a caretaker. I do.

If we were closer, we'd be offering you comfort through visits, phone calls, and maybe giving you a break from your duties. But since we aren't, what we can do is send you a little comfort and love in an Amazon box.

(And I must admit I was crying while reading your post.)

Yes! You put this into words in a way I was unable to. But yes yes yes!

So glad you like the quilt, it was so fun working together making it for you.  And as Suzie said, we would gladly help if we could.
Lots of hugs.😃

I also agree with Susan. The hardest part of being so far apart from our lovely, wonderful, supportive group of friends is that we can't be there in person when you need us. We hope very, very much that our crazy fandom quilt will wrap you in lots of love and comfort when you need it. ♥

Also, I love myself some Bette!
