Thanks, Vicky. I got the worst part of the dress over with today - it is all cut out now and ready to sew. You haven't lived until you've tried to cute out a plus-sized long evening gown on a card table. Not good. But I got it done.

For future reference, you can often find discontinued patterns online, just Google the company and number...lots of websites out there have them, and Simplicity.com even has some. I've often found discontinued patterns on Ebay as well.

Good luck on your dress! I hear 'ya about altering a pattern, it's tricky to do. I'd love to sew for myself more than I have but it's just easier to buy something on sale at Woman Within. :)

Cute idea about the signatures of wedding guests on a quilt! I agree about the PG comments, lol.

Doesn't look like anyone else mentioned it, but I recommend you iron freezer paper onto the back of the quilt squares to stabilise them for autographing. It's difficult to keep the fabric from stretching or shifting while writing otherwise.

Definitely next time check online for out of print patterns. Simplicity sells them and you can find quite a lot on amazon and ebay. Good luck with the construction, you can do it, I've seen the amazing bags you make.

I did think of searching for the discontinued pattern, but by the time I discovered the problem, I was afraid it wouldn't get here in time.

I am planning to iron freezer paper to the blocks for signing. Thank you for reminding me!!!
