Both quilts are so beautiful, but I love Black & White & Read All Over. Such a great name. ♥

I adore family heirloom blocks, how wonderful!! This quilt top was made from leftover fabric from dresses my aunts made, mostly double knit. My mom gave the top to my sister, who gave it to me (sister doesn't sew). I put cotton batting and a cotton back on it. It's quilted all over with a big meander. The one good thing about double knit is that it LASTS.

That quilt is lovely!

I spoke with my cousin today and we have decided to split the blocks and each make a small quilt as a family keepsake. That means we will each have 46 blocks.

That sounds like an excellent solution!

The quilts look really great. Depending on the type of batting you used on the purple quilt, you may not need to add any more quilting... unless you just WANT to add more, then go nuts :D

You could either un-stitch and remake those blocks, or just measure them all and cut them all down to the same size (so if they smallest one is 5.75", for instance, then you'd cut them all down to 5.75 instead of 6). I saw in your comments to Jennifer that you're going to make a small keepsake quilt - if you want to use it as a table topper or wall-hanging or something like that, you could do it without any batting - just maybe fuse it to some interfacing or fusible fleece or something to give it a little body, without adding much height, and then you only need to quilt it pretty minimally too.

both quilts are great, I love the red black and white one too much, it's really striking and just gorgeous.

The blocks are going to make a really great memento for you.
