Welcome!!!!! We are happy to have you join us.

I first want to say I think it is really lovely that you are finishing the quilt you started for your granddaughter for your daughter. I cannot even imagine going through something like that. My heart goes out to you both.

I was so just completely shocked when I learned of Prince passing. My middle school and high school years were filled with "I wanna Be Your Lover" and "Purple Rain" and the world of music will never be the same.I am keeping my eye on the designs for this project for a possible wall hanging in the future to hang in my office, maybe next year. You seem to have done a really good job on the symbol, I am looking forward to seeing that with those fabrics you chose, which I think are just perfect.

Once again welcome and I hope we get to hear from you again.

Thank you! Yes it's been a tough time around here for us all. My children and I are very closely knit, we have helped may each day a bit easier!

Prince will definitely leave a huge void for so many, I hate he will never see what I planned to make for him, but I hope it turns out and it can be used by so many more people in years to come.

Thanks, you will definitely hear more from me! I like it here! Everyone is so awesome. And I love connecting with those who share my interests - not many here in my city and age group [and I'm not that old] are into sewing, I hope to change that! :o)

Welcome to the group Queen Anita. First of all, I just want to say I'm sorry for the loss of your granddaughter. I totally understand that you want to finish that quilt all on your own. It is YOUR tribute to her.

Your Minnie Mouse quilt is adorable! I have a feeling that the little girl and her mother are going to be very happy with it.

The Prince quilt blocks look very impressive. I love the patterns you have made so far. And that purple fabric is perfect! I am really looking forward to seeing what you do with that quilt.

Prince was a genius. When he came along, he turned the music industry on its ear. He affected a lot of people. Do not feel bad about becoming emotional on here. Where better to share your emotions than with a group of women - and a group of creative women at that. For centuries, women have mourned by pouring their hearts out to other women, and by pouring their love into their arts and crafts. Many quilts have been made through tears.

I'm glad you are here.

Thank you Suzy! I will be sure to post progress pics/videos of all my projects... but AFTER daycare hours from now on, lol! It's great to have a place to share with others that can relate!

My mom is a quilter and it has become one way we can spend time together, without even saying a word, just sewing...and then other times just talking and not a stitch is made! I joined the quilting club at our church and those ladies are priceless! Most do hand quilting so when I came in with my quilting attachments for my machine they asked ME to teach THEM!!! so honored, bur I warned I was just learning myself, but I would be sure to pass on what I learn as I learn it.

Last week they all just had a blast getting familiar with the FMQ! So many laughs that day!

I'm glad I am here too, thank you again!

Welcome to the group Anita, and don't worry about showing your emotions here. We are all like one big happy family here.
I like your designs for Prince.
And the Minnie mouse quilt came out great, I love the colors you used.  I needed to make a quilt in a hurry for my niece and used the same block.

Hope to much more of your videos.

Thank you!
I feel very welcome! and I love you Minnie quilt too! I find it so cool how we can each take the same patterns and turn them into totally different, unique projects! Sewing truly is our super power!

I may totally have to borrow your idea above for a fast quilt! I can easily make each child in my daycare their own nap quilts using your method! They will love them...and maybe nap time will be more welcoming for a few who hate to settle down!

Welcome to TTMT!

I'm so sorry about your daughter's loss. I think it's awesome that you're making that quilt for her entirely by you, and completely understand why you want to do that. It'll be a treasure for her.

Some artists move our hearts and change our lives, so no apologies needed for your tears for Prince. I love the fabrics you picked for your planned quilt, the purple paisley is absolutely perfect.

Love the Minnie quilt, it's so sweet!

Thank you!
I will have to post a photo of the quilt in it's current state - it's all sandwiched and ready - awaiting my level of courage to increase! I even designed a block for the signature - it's an infant and pregnancy loss ribbon.

Thanks - now I don't feel so bad about the tears! As soon as I saw the fabric I knew I had to use it!

Minnie was fun & fast, just enough paper piecing to be unique and all the colors worked out great! Glad you like it!

Welcome, welcome, I'm so glad you're here!

It is really beautiful of you to finish the PoD for your daughter-in-law and I am so, so sorry for your loss.

The pink & black with Minnie Mouse is so fabulous. What a wonderful gift. I am so impressed by how far you've come since February. WOW!

Oh my heart just aches at your story about planning your Prince quilt. He has always been one of my absolute favorites and I couldn't believe it when I found he was gone. My sister texted me to tell me and I dropped my phone where I stood, I was just so stunned. It's been such a hard year. What in the world is going on?!

I just wanted to say, I also bought buttons at Spencers. I love that. :)

If you haven't already, please do consider joining the Fandom in Stitches Designer & Pattern Tester Group on Facebook. We have been having a good discussion on creating Prince patterns and I know you'd be able to find someone to test your patterns. That group is here.

You did great for your first video. It was wonderful to meet you and I look forward to getting to know you. Have a good rest of your week!

Thank you!
Working on the PoD inspired quilt was emotional yet rewarding. When I revealed it to my daughter, she was so touched. She and her boyfriend said they want to both wrap up in it, yet NOT touch it! It's been hard on our whole family.

The Minnie quilt was a last minute idea and a way to 'practice' my hand at quilting before attempting the HP quilt, and I was very shocked that it came out so well. Watching all the tutorials was a great help. I can't wait until her party so I can give it to her!

My Prince project is truly going to be tough to work on! But I will get thru it! I am excited to see all of the patterns in the design invitational and I will work on mine to submit. Attempted to sew last night and found a part that needs to be re-worked. Being new to it I'm sure there will come across many more.

LOVE my button collection - recall people always laughing at me when I would wear my hat - now they are all scrambling for Prince memorabilia! And I saw your folder on IG! AWESOME!!!

I will look into joining the designers & pattern tester group - thanks! I know I can learn so much from everyone, and I sure need it.

Glad my video was okay - a bit on the long side, but it's because I was not fully 'ready' - but hey, they can only get better, right?!

Again HAPPY BIRTHDAY! and hey, it's SUPER HERO day too - coincidence? I think not! ;o)

Re: Thank you!
Your long video was a-okay. It was so good to get to meet you and you had a lot of information to share.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. Life has been a bit tough lately and it's good to have love coming from all directions. :)

Welcome! I always love seeing new people :D (And no worries about the lack of editing etc. - I barely edit mine, except maybe to take out a few of my Ums and Uhs.)

I'm so sorry to hear about your family's loss. I can't imagine how difficult that must be. I think it's lovely that you're finishing the quilt for your daughter.

Oh, that quilt for Eliza is fantastic. Love the Minnie Mouse - it looks amazing.

Oh wow, those patterns for the Prince quilt are AMAZING. I think it's a really incredible tribute to Prince, though it's certainly not the way you wanted to make it.

Thank you!
Glad to know the video wasn't too rough - they can only get better, right?! lol

The loss has been difficult, but I'm glad my children are so close.. they have been so supportive of their sister thru their own heartache. #onedayatatime

I love Elizah's quilt too - so pleased at how it turned out & to see her mom's face was soooo worth it!

The Prince project is going to be a huge step...designing the blocks is a challenge, but a skill I want to become good at!

Thank you again for the welcome. I hope to get a video in next week! There aren't enough hours in my days! ;-)
