WOW! I haven't been a big fan of Sunbonnet Sue and Sam, but I think I may be changing my mind. Those blocks are WONDERFUL!!!

I'm sorry about your sewing machine woes. Difficult decisions to make.

I think you are doing a great job on the Sue and Sam blocks, it's an certainly a different take on those blocks than any I have seen before.

I am so sorry about your machine. I have seen some really amazing quilting done with just a walking foot though. There is a class or two on craftsy and also some fun free stuff here: http://blog.petitdesignco.com/2012/10/31-days-of-walking-foot-quilting.html . I think you make perfect sense. If you know what machine you want, better to save until you can afford it than buy a machine you won't be happy with. It's a sacrifice, but you will be so glad when you have the machine you really want.

Thank you so much for the link. I will work through that and see how it goes. Must look at Craftsy.

The Craftsy class is by a lady called Jackie Gering... Creative Quilting with your Walking Foot, or something like that. She has more than one class I think.

The Sam & Sue blocks are very nice. You're doing a lovely job!

Oh, secret presents are the best!

I am so sorry to hear about the frustrations with your machines. I used to work in a machine shop and I know sometimes repairs are much more expensive than the machine is worth. That's always hard. Keep saving that money so you can get your new machine!

Those Sunbonnet patterns are way more interesting than your average Sunbonnet block!

That really stinks about the sewing machine. Is there another repair shop you could take it too and see if they'll quote you a lower repair price? I agree about waiting till you can get the machine you really want though - waiting really sucks, but on the other hand, it's better to have something you're really happy with.

love the sunbonnet sue/sam :D they look great

I mean to ask you - what type of bird do you have in the background?

Sorry about the sewing machine issues. I find that my machine now costs about 1/2 the price of a new machine to get serviced, but I don't like the newer machines as they don't feel as solid as the older machines. One day i'll buy a fancy one, but I still use my first machine I bought in the 80s. My mum still uses her old husqvana that she bought in the 50s

She is a pure white love bird. Her name is Snowy, but we thought she was a boy, until the day she laid an egg.
