Sometimes an old quilt is just not salvageable.

Good job on the X-Files quilt. OH NO about missing the end of the show. I may have to get some black fleece :).

I enjoyed your longer-than-usual video!

Thank you! I got the extra wide fleece from fabric.com paid less than $18.00 bucks and that was with shipping! Just took 2 weeks to come to me.

Wow, you had lots of interesting info on the glow in the dark fabric and using dark batting/fleece with a dark quilt! It was all good to know - thanks for sharing it.

I wish I EVER got a whim to be that thorough cleaning anything. My house is a total sty. But when I'm off all I want to do is nap and sew. ;)

Hobbs makes 80% cotton black batting, they sell it on CRaftsy. Not sure what the shipping would be on something that bulky but it wouldn't weigh much at least. You have to quilt ti closer together, like 3.5". I've never used it but some of the ladies in my Project Linus group have for really dark quilts with lots of black.

That's good to know about that glow fabric. I'm doing all my stitching with glow floss, but I'm just using the regular fairy frost for the white letters.

I'm picky when it comes to batting. When I heard that my mini quilt was fleece from Vicki I could not believe it. I love to clean. I like to clean a little everyday so on my days off I don't have too. I got more to clean....the sunroom when it's emptied I'll be moving my sewing stuff into that room. That's going to take a lot of time. I'm happy with what I've done so far with the apartment. For the X Files I so exiced. I can't wait till it's put together. Can't wait to have it hanging and have it glow!

sounds like you've been busy

I would love to do the letters in the glow in the dark fairy frost. I'll have to see if I can find some here in South Australia. I have a small fat quarter of the stuff and love it! What a great idea. I'm going to use it for my signature block :D

OH No on missing the ending! I've missed the new X Files as we have been too busy with bubs to be organised enough to record it! Im hoping that it will be shown again sometime and I can see it then

That is one cram packed video!

"Control what you can" is how I deal with anything huge and life changing. Working on your kitchen is a darn good way to do that!

Letting go of the thrift store quilt sounds like the best decision. I have a couple of old quilts that have a lot of sentimental value that are now on quilt rack because they are totally unusable.

GLOW IN THE DARK IS AWESOME. That's all I have to say about that. ;)

I've used black cotton batting before. I found it at my local quilt shop. Fleece is totally acceptable, too. We've occasionally used it for Linus quilts when we've been out of cotton batting. When we do that, we don't use a quilt back, just layer the top on the fleece. It is very stretchy though, so be careful when basting.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but you can watch the end of the episode on Fox.com. The ending really was a blink and you miss it kind of deal!

First off, I love your "Not a Fan" shirt. My Matt ;) and I watched that last year. It was a great message/story but kind of sad too. We don't mind your rambling :) it was a lot of great information. Since you love to clean you can come to my house LOL Great work on the X Files quilt. I hope we get to see it glow too :)

I'm sorry to hear there've been some difficult times for you! I'm super behind on videos right now (just starting to catch up on about three weeks, I think!), so I'm not sure if you've talked about it, but I hope everything is okay and that you're treating yourself well through whatever it is.

It's too bad about the old thrift store quilt, but you gave it a go, which is more than most people would do! It sounds like you got a lot of life out of it anyway.

Glow in the dark X-Files quilt seems like the most perfect use for that fabric!
