In which I show off a quilt top in progress, though I am so far from the camera you can't really see it, lol. Also my Block 1 from the I Want to Believe Stitch and Quilt a long on Fandom in Stitches.

Forgot to mention, the border will I think be dark red or burgundy. Need to shop for the fabric as I don't have enough on anything in my stash.

I love that quilt top! When you showed the key board fabric I was thing how great for a pillowcase! I can't say it enough on how great the quilt is!

thanks so much! I think it is elegant while masculine at the same time with those colors. ANd I love that I dredged through my scraps to find stuff that would work together. My goal is for my brother to receive it the first week of Feb, his birthday is the 2nd. I am toying with flannel for the back, but he has 3 dogs so I am not sure flannel is a great idea, lol. All that black is going to show dog hair like crazy too. Should have thought of that BEFORE I started, lol.

Don't worry about it the dog hair. Life is not complete unless you have pet hair on EVERYTHING!

I do love the quilt; simple, elegant and masculine.

Yeah, there's not so much shimmer that it's not still a guy quilt. I like it.

I love the idea of flannel. Sending you extra crafty mojo for you to get it done!

Can't beat flannel if you want to snuggle under a quilt.

You really have gotten a ton finished with the musical quilt. Well done.

Also, #xfilesquilt, YAY, finally rolling!

I know yay! After the concert I need to start embroidery again. Carpel tunnel is bugging more than usual since starting guitar again, so I haven't been doing any hand work this week since I need my wrists and fingers to function for tech rehearsal tomorrow, then bnoth concerts this weekend. Then I can take a few days off from the guitar.

I really wish I could be there for your concert. I keep thinking about that!

My CT is bothering me as well. It hits me in the thumb on my left hand where I hold my hoop.

I know right? I was bummed I couldn't find enough of anything to do the border in my stash.

What a great quilt for your brother! I like that, like good musicians can, you did some improvisation. :) It's just really, really nice - he should love it.

Yeah it made the perfect name for the quilt, since I have to name all my projects, Musical Improvisation was just the right name.

The quilt is looking great -- good quilt for a man (which is not, somehow, an easy thing to do). Fun bit of improv, too :D

Your x-files stitched block looks really great!

Thanks, you are right it's not easy making a "man" quilt that's not got a "mountain lodge" sort of vibe. This has some of the same color scheme but the music changes it up.

I was keeping in secret that I was stitching all my embroidery blocks with GiD floss, but someone else mentioned it on the facebook group so I figured it wasn't going to be all that original an idea anyway, lol. They are so cool in the dark!

The music quilt is really cool. I love how that is shaping up.

Thanks! Hopefully next week I'll at least have the top finished, if not the back, too.

Love the man quilt, the piano keys as a pillow sounds great. Do you normally give quilts in pillow cases, thats such a great idea. Love the x files block, your stitches are tiny and all the same size... jealous x

Jen made me a quilt for my 40th birthday (I won't say how long ago THAT that was), and she "gift-wrapped" it in a matching pillowcase made from leftovers from the quilt top. I thought it was such a great idea that I have done it myself a couple of times. It uses up more of the fabric and you just fold and stuff the quilt in there nicely and then tie the whole thing up in lovely ribbon and you have a beautifully wrapped gift.

My stitches are DEFINITELY not even or the same size, but they do get better about halfway through each block, lol.

Oh was that your agatha christie quilt. I loved that one, i am such a huge christie fan. I am gonna try to replicate another book cover this year, i have them pinned on my inspiration board, not sure which one to do, i am thinking Sparkling Cyanide or Betrums Hotel, they are two of my favorites. X

The Body in the Library is a wall-hanging quilt, and it is awesome! That's a bit more recent. She made me an actual snuggle-under quilt all from scraps, and called it Facets of Friendship. Here's her flickr folder for it: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ofenjen/albums/72157608087925864
