In which I ramble about purple shirts and vests for hopefully the last time. There is also talk about trying to make a quilt in less than a month, because  I do like to challenge myself, don't I?

The tutorials I mention can be found at Shiny Happy World

Loads of purplyness going on. The vest looks very nice.
I find that clothing takes a lot longer than advertised, especially when you hate making clothes, like I do.

So excited about x-files, can't wait for tomorrow.

I am so glad to be done. I took the leftover fabric scraps and the puffy shirt and lilac unfinished shirt to rehearsal last night,. one of the other new ladies took the puffy shirt home to try out. She is so tiny, she could get away with tucking it in or wearing it with a belt. Hopefully it will come in handy for someone at some point after all the time I put into it!

I applaud your clothing making. unless it is something simple like pj pants or skirts...I'm out.

If you google Star Wars quilts they have quite a few ideas of simple quilts that really showcase the fabrics instead of complicated blocks. My oldest wants a Star Wars quilt and I don't want to invest a lot of time in it, but there are some great ideas out there. Good Luck with a quick turn around quilt!

Thanks! I've been eyeing some modern quilts that use big blocks and think I'm on the right track!

I like the vest you made. I also liked how you fix the other shirt that you got that was unfinished. Very thoughtful. I hate making cloths that's why my shirt is still not done. Matthew on the other hand loves making his own cloths. He is starting to make his own hats too. For me it's not something I enjoy doing. Monday blues...hope you had some rest on your mini vacation even when you where working from home. It's like our work will always find us even on our days off. I'll keep my eyes open for a fast quilt pattern for you. I can't wait for "I want to believe"! From the photo that was posted last Wensday, you and Jennifer did a great job!

I'm just glad I'm done asnd have something I'm willing to wear in public, lol.

I have seen a few I think will work well and be quick to piece. They are more of a modern style than I usually do but I've pulled fabrics and think I am on my way to something.

"1 Hour Pattern"...bahahahahahaha! I've always wondered who the sewing companies timed to make those claims.

Huzzah for the shirt/vest situation being resolved for now! The light shirt looks a bunch better after what you've done, hope the next person appreciates it.

It noted in small print that the 1 hour only referred to actual sewing machine time. Yeah, even that was WAY off, lol. It took me a whole 2-3 days to get it done. Woof. But it's done, yay!

Look at you, (mostly!) finishing Lavender Shirt!

I need to dig through my patterns, but I seriously think I have (or had) the groovy one!

Look at you, serging all those inside bits on the vest! It looks fantastic. Every pattern I've worked with has been too big. I try to work with the measurements, but omg, so frustrating!

You can totally make a quilt in less than a month. I believe in you!

And, I needed a good backstitch tutorial for FiS! Just snagged one from the page you linked to. :)

OMG I am so done with the clothes sewing for a bit. I've got some fabrics pulled for Jim's quilt and an idea brewing. Hopefully a top by next Tuesday.

It's got some really cute stuff for charity quilts too. Neat stuff.

I remember when I made my first quilt, Osie impressed upon me how much easier quilts are because they are flat and very forgiving because they don't have to fit your body. Truer words were never spoken!

Woo for all the quilts!

You are so thoughtful to try to salvage the lavender shirt for somebody and to donate the purple shirt. There is no way on earth I could made that vest in 1 hour. CRAZY! Congratulations on getting that done (even if it took a little longer than they claimed it would).

Thank you for giving me the idea to quilt-as-you-go. I am going to try that for the Doctor Who quilt. I may not get it done by her birthday (tomorrow) but at least I'll get it done before next Christmas!

She's got really good step by step videos. And lots of different tutorials, it's a really fun site, I could spend a lot of time just going through all the patterns and tutes.

LJ is being stupid for me and not allowing me to make comments freely. Grrrr...

I love the work you did to help the other ladies. Go you! I don't make clothes. Ever. That doesn't stop my coworkers from asking me every Halloween to make them something. No joke.

I believe you can get a quilt done in a month! I just wish I had gotten to this sooner as I have some music type fabrics at home that I'd be happy to send!!

I was so relieved to be done with the vest that I was happy to finish up the other ones as best i could. The vest is about the most I want to spend on making an article of clothing.

Quilt top just needs a border and back then I'm ready to baste and quilt. Have to set it aside until after Sunday, though. We've got our chorus concert this saturday evening here in ABQ and then again Sunday afternoon in Santa Fe. Then we get a week of thank goodness.

You must just be tired of purple shirts :D They're at least going to get some better finished shirts out of the deal.

OMG so tired of them. So glad I have a vest instead, though.
