I'm terrible about posting consistently...

Skirt pattern used is a mildly modified McCalls M5811, just a basic circle skirt.

Link to the squid tutorial I loosely followed (note that made changes to the materials used and the mouth beak and esophageal pouch are not included in the tutorial): http://build-a-diy.tumblr.com/post/60084351985/8-foot-giant-squid-pillow-youll-need-2-yards

What a terrific giant squid! Looks like he was trying to eat your arm. I do like the circle skirt, but nothing can compare to those two beautiful kitties.

The skirt looks great! You'd never see the hem without searching for it, so that's pretty great.

The squid turned out awesome :D

The squid is amazing!

That squid is awesome. You could totally incorporate that into a Halloween costume. Like wear an old fashioned bathing dress and go around with your arm stuck in the squid's beak, lol.

Kitties! They look just like twinkies to my old Fluffy cat. Beautiful!

Yay, new skirt! It looks even better in real life!

The squid is totally adorable and finally done. I nearly snorted water out of my nose when you stuck your arm in the beak.

Silly videos are absolutely the best.

Both kitties in one video, well done!

Thanks everybody!

I'm really pleased with all the skirt details. I have a feeling this will result in future projects taking even longer and requiring lots of hand sewing to finish, but the end results are worth it.

Teehee! ^_^ Charybdis' mouth pocket is actually really deep. I could tell as soon as I put my hand in that I was going to have a spot of trouble getting it back out again, but in theory I could shove my arm up to the elbow in there. Given how...ahem...bulky the squid is, I'm not sure how practical it would be as part of a Halloween costume if I needed to move about at all, although I do like the idea of making/wearing an old-timey bathing costume, just as long as I don't actually have to get in any body of water. Perhaps I should make a smaller, more portable version of the squid? For vandachit and anyone else who might be interesting in tackling making a squid of their very own...the most difficult and time consuming part was stuffing the tentacles. I recommend a pokey stick and movie marathon. Apart from that though the squid was actually a pretty easy project.

I love my kitties! I always wanted a black cat growing up and now I have two...and a parking lot full of strays that I wish I could adopt too. O_O I'll try to get more shots of Yvaine snuggling with Charybdis for you all. It's pretty cute.
