In which you see a tiny craft from me, and then some video clips I took at the Zoo this past Saturday. We are so fortunate to have 4 healthy Tasmanian Devils. And fortunate to have a really great Bio Park (zoo, botanical garden, and aquarium), much nicer than you would expect for a city our size. Royalty-free music by Kevin McCleod of incompetech.com .

They are! I had never gotten to see them before because they are nocturnal and are usually in their little hidey holes, truee trunks and such, sleeping. They were chasing each other, yelling at each other, it was really quite adorable.

over 16,000 people crammed into a noisy zoo, just a day of fun, lol. I am not fond of losing half my weekend, but at least I get to visit the animals every year.

Oi indeed. I had to visit the Devils every chance I got. I never even made it into the Koalas, like I usually do.

Well, I found fun whenever I could, but since I was working and had to be there for over 8 hours straight in the sun I don't know that I would call it a blast. At least we got awesome free barbecue for lunch. :D ALso I hate being in that big a crowd so I was kind of shell shocked for the rest of the evening.

Actually I've been sewing NOTHING until tonight. I started putting my daughter's PoD blocks together this evening. Got the first 4 rows done.

I don't think our zoo has Tazmanian devils. I haven't been there in a couple of years so I may be wrong.

I'm surprised more of the kids weren't wearing costumes. Were you wearing yours?

The music was the perfect fit for that video.

As of right now I believe only our zoo and the San Diego zoo have them. We are part of this program to breed the Devils and help them avoid extinction. They are suffering in their native areas from a horrible cancer that is killing them off. I think Fort Wayne, Indiana is supposed to be getting some sometime this year as part of a similar if not the same program.

There were some amazing costumes, but our state is, sadly, the worst state in the U.S. for children living in poverty. 30% of children under the age of 18 in NM are living under the poverty level. So even though we advertise that with each paid adult admission up to 4 children in costume get in free, we don't really require the costume. I will say there were some AMAZING costumes though, and many were homemade. I should actually show a few of my favorites next time. This one kid had a home made Wall-E costume. It was fantastic.

I have worn costumes to the event in the past, but over the past few years have moved to just wearing a station tee shirt, jeans, and sneakers because I spend the whole day running all over the zoo taking pictures of all the vendor booths and animals and kids, and making sure all our booths have everything they need.

They were so awesome and frisky. I'm still laughing about the girl standing next to who was so disappointed that they don't look anything like the cartoon, lol.

I always expect Tasmanian devils to be larger somehow...with goofy expressions. Cartoons have ruined me, lol. Fun video, I enjoyed seeing all the animules. :D

I know. I asked if they were really young and apparently they are all fully grown adults. The girl net to me said "ewwww, THAT'S what they look like? It's just a giant rat!" So hilarious.

OMG it's an ROUS.

We just had a baby giraffe born at the zoo up here. I don't think I'll ever not find it weird that they've got giraffes at a zoo in a place as cold as it can be up here, but the babies are just adorable, so I can't hate too much.

Lol, that's what MKissa said on facebook. They are just like giant rats, aren't they?

I love watching the giraffes, but I thought the Rhinos really gave their opinion of all the noise with just turning their backsides to us all day
