Nooooo Veronica!! :( (may she rest in peace)

The diamond quilt top is looking great!

I think your journal pages are really cool and interesting (and I mean that in a genuine way).

Very pretty painting, salsa is a very appropriate name. :)

A moment of silence for Veronica please...

Okay moving on, she was just a sewing machine after all, lol. ;-)

I began art journaling a while back and have really enjoyed it. Whether it's just a doodle, or an in depth page like the ones I show it's a way to get the creative juices flowing, as well as emotions you sometimes can't find the right words for. It's something I think everyone should try, even if they're not "creative". (Can you tell I have a psychology degree yet? lol)

Oh no!!! i would just cry if my machine died on me. I've had her since the late 80's.

great work doing other crafty things while you are minus a sewing machine.

Salsa is a great name for that dress. i can see that up on a wall somewhere. when done on stretching your painting style

I did cry a bit when she died...it was more because I'd just gotten down payments for two big projects I didn't know how I was going to complete without her, but you could say it was over the machine too, lol. To be honest I'd known it was going to die for a while now, was just trying to make it last till I had enough saved for a new machine. Just couldn't make it though. So the death was a bit expected.

I tried to stay busy while I couldn't sew. Hey I got to keep making money to afford this new machine!

It does not seem right for a motor to die in 5 years, I would like to know what kind of machine it was so I can avoid buying one like it. Very lovely of your mom to loan you $$ so you could continue your craft business.

The dress reminds me more of a tango dress than salsa dress, but it's very nice. And "salsa" really fits the colors well. It's a lovely painting.

It was a Singer Curvy. No under normal circumstances the machine probably shouldn't have died in 5 years. It was in storage for a year though while I was injured and had to move back in with my parents for about 6 months. We know animals got into where my things were being stored, and destroyed other things, and I think there may have been some damage to the sewing machine too thinking back. So I wouldn't totally blame the manufacturer. I actually replaced it with another Singer.

My mom knows that my crafts help me pay my bills, and if I can't do my crafts I can't pay my bills, and I ask her if she can help pay them. I think she may have thought loaning me the money for the sewing machine was cheaper, lol.

Shame about the sewing machine, but it looks like you got something more awesome in its place and it didn't take so very long for the new one to arrive!

After playing with the new one for a bit now, I wonder how I survived with the old one!!! Amazing how quick we can adapt, lol.

I burned out my first sewing machine. It was a little Brother machine and I ran it into the ground. It's nice to upgrade, even when it's not on purpose.

If you ever run across a $5 or $10 machine that works at a thrift store or garage sale. Get it. Keep it. It is SO NICE to have a backup machine for servicing, downtime, whatever. My backup is a Singer 301A that I paid $5 for. It is a rock star machine and has saved my bacon a couple of times when I had to get my machine serviced.

I'm glad you found an outlet while you were waiting for your new machine. NOW to go watch this week's video! *is behind*
