You look so nice today! All done up!

The stripey blanket turned out great.

Also... what was at the beginning of the video before I got distracted by your hair :D

Oh, the tote bag in progress - I'm curious about how it's going together, as it doesn't sound like you've put in the second layer like a liner...? I don't know if I understood or not, about joining it with the serger. I don't know. I should go rewatch what you said :D

Also, funny about the spoons! My sister has a ring made out of a baby spoon, all bent around into the perfect ring shape. I think they must have kind of flattened the business end of the spoon though. Hmm. (I've never looked at it that closely.)

Haha. Yes, well, it's a work-day, gotta dress & groom as "businessy" as I can muster, which isn't too very businessy. ;) It's been a while since I had so much hair. Y'all have forgotten what a curly mop it is. It hasn't been cut since August, so it's getting pretty long. I can actually put it up in a small ponytail now, but it's so curly it doesn't look a long as it is. It wasn't dry yet, either.

Ok, so I basically put right sides together of the blue and the tan fabrics (twice as long as the pattern called for), and serged up each long side, like a tube. Then I just turned it right side out, pressed the seam as flat as I could, and proceeded to follow the pattern as if it was a single piece of fabric. So it should be unlined, but since I basically turned it into a double-sided piece of fabric, it's double-thickness and looks lined. Does that make sense?

Ok, I have no idea why, but I find something so hilarious in the phrase: "business end of the spoon". I'm still chuckling. I think if I had a vise in my project room that would have probably made it possible Hopefully I'll be able to manage bending iced tea spoons, maybe. Hopefully I'll be able to find something at the dollar store.

Oh, I got so excited a few minutes ago... have you seen this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01r522y I listened to a snippet, it sounds really good. And Benedict Cumberbatch as The Angel Islington. If only it were a movie or a mini-series!

I forgot to mention, what you can't tell from your vantage is that nearly every other button on the sweater is missing, bcause it's ancient, lol. That's why I only button one at my waist or one at my neck. I'm too lazy to replace the buttons.

I hate my work uniform (kind of khaki green button-up with black pants) but it's good sometimes not to have to worry about what to wear :D The hair is a different matter.... but I did something drastic to it today. If I ever manage to make movie maker work again, you'll be able to see.

I think your explanation of the lining/not-lining does make more sense. Does that pattern do something to hide the seams? or is it a serge to finish it type thing?

I think the phrase "business end of..." usually gets used with weapons, rather than, you know, cutlery. I almost said the spoon end of the spoon and that just seemed too ridiculous :D

Cumberbatch has a great voice for stuff like that - I'll have to listen. The book was written after a mini-series in 1996, but the mini-series looks pretty terrible (besides being impossible to find) and I didn't even make it through one episode. (I'd *cought*downloaded*cough* it a few years ago and then pretty quickly deleted it and tried to forget its existence.) There are often rumours about a movie, but it never goes anywhere - I'd love to see it done, if someone could do it right!

(Bah. Movie maker won't play video for me anymore. It exists - if I click on the raw files they'll play on a video player - but it'll only play me the sound over a grey background. Damn it.) (I tried updating codecs and WLMM itself. No dice.)

I could totally see an entire series based on this novel and it's universe. There's really enough there.

I used to always wish for a uniform, so that I always knew what to wear. I frequently walk a fine line with what's acceptable. The skirt you couldn't see is made of t-shirt material and is short and snug. ;)

The pattern has you topstitch 1/4" from the seam on both sides of the seam. Which I guess also gives you a little reinforcement, but I like the idea of the sturdiness of two layers.

The stripey blanket looks great!

I wonder if it would be easier to bend the spoons around a Jeweler's anvil-thingy (there's exacting fro you!) with a rubber mallet? Light taps should still preserve the decorativeness of the spoons.

Ooo...I'm excited about the Neverwhere radio show! Thanks for sharing!

I have a rubber mallet, and I have a vise in my garage built into Ken's workbench, unfortunately the path to said workbench is untraversable at this time. *coughcoughcleantheeffinggaragecough*

Me too, once I figure out what I'm going to do. ;) It looks like the pink won't be enough on its own,so I'll definitely need to add stripes of something else in there, but I'm still debating whether or not it will be the green. I need to dig through my stash to see if I have any other sportweight yarn I can mix in.

OH YAYYYY! This totally made my day! Thank you so much.... I think you know how I feel about pink (LOVE) so the girls can find something else to claim. This sucker's MINE. :D </p>

The tote is looking great and the blanket turned out beautifully...very nautical or rugby-ish. The yarn combo is great.

I'm still chuckling about your spoon...you could always tell your sis that you bent it with your mind! A very special gift. :P

Congratulations! I will probably not mail until sometime next week. It's a shame only 3 people entered, but that gave you a better chance of winning, so that's good for the three people who DID enter. ;)

I really liked the colors in the striped blanket. I think I might need something to go with the pink and green one now, though. Maybe white? Actually I would love to use a light orange if I could find such a thing. That would looks so sherbet-ish. I'm veto-ing yarn purchases at the moment, however, so it will likely be white unless I can find another color in my stash somewhere.

I haven't made it anywhere for spoons, but I'm still going to try the dollar store, maybe tomorrow. I think she'll be pleased with or without the spoons. :D

I want to finish that tote tonight, but I slept like crap last night, so I'm thinking it might be an early to bed night. Also I'm having trouble getting the serger working right for 4 thread, two needle overcast. So it may be a REALLY short video tomorrow morning.

Still no luck with the spoons, but I did get a new toy I'm hoping will help. Two new toys actually. I'm so glad we have a Harbor Freight store here.

Harbor Freight = <3.

Do you know about their carpet cutter blades? They fit in a rotary cutter and work just as well as any other blade I've ever tried!
