TTMT #49 - jewells68 - "Slow Week"

I recorded this before work this morning, hence the wet hair. I've just been so crazy busy today I had to edit it it spurts throughout the day. I'm just glad I finally got it uploaded in time to post while it's still Tuesday (and before I fall asleep at my desk)...

Sorry for the choppy editing, I was trying to hurry...

Mail is the best, isn't it? :) Especially such fun mail! The wall-hanging is very lovely, isn't it?

Some pre-cuts are absolutely worth it - in the past I've bought them in solid black, off-white, and white - SO USEFUL. (Sort of expensive, but... I didn't have to cut all those 42 strips!)

EXACTLY. I definitely intend to get some black, white, and off-white to have on hand. Seriously, saving my time (and shoulder) is totally worth the expense. I have a honey bun I bought at the LQS sidewalk sale a couple of years ago, and it's come in really handy, but I've been wanting to get some of the wider strips so I could even use them for binding or sashing.

I totally agree with you about pre-cuts. Absolutely worth it for those of us not-yet-retired, pressed-for-time quilters.

What a lovely box from Jen. Such a good way to brighten a week!

I love your reconstruction idea. The fabrics are very cute, and you're right, they need to be in the right-sized kiddie quilts. You've given me an idea for one of my unfinished 12-for-2012s - I have a 12-block quilt kit which I was NOT looking forward to making into a huge quilt. Just 'cause it's a kit doesn't mean I can't split it into tinier quiltlets! :D

I see the jelly roll strips used for binding and sashing quite a bit , so these will definitely come in handy. I want to stock up onsome solids, especially neutrals, the next time I see a REALLY good sale. Maybe from Craftsy.

Work was just horrible last week, the pkg was such a nice pick-me-up, I really appreciated it.

Yup just make it into 4 smaller quilts or 3 smaller quilts or something. I've got that nice center section I can use for the main part of a quilt top, and I've got the large squares sewn into rows, that I will make into at least one other quilt top. The squares actually came from a panel that was supposed to make a fabric nursery rhyme book. People use the fabric book panels to cut up and make cute kids' quilts all the time. And there's extra yardage of a couple of the sashing fabrics so that I can add borders and such, so it shouldn't be too much of an undertaking, it's just not been a priority, which is why it's on the to-do list this year.

Yay, squeemail!

The little floral fabric was left from The Secret Quilt. You mentioned loving the back...so I sent you some!

Lilja made the Hogwarts embroidered widget. I think it's for a flash drive, but use it for whatever you like!

It was my pleasure to send you the hand applique piece. I love the idea of you having stuff I made around your house. :)

Since we didn't do Christmas this year, I thought maybe...Happy February!

*glomps*

Pre-cuts are a lovely thing for so many projects. Good find!

Yay for 50 videos, I think that's amazing with everything else you have going on!

I realized after the fact that the quilting magazine was the one that featured Honeybee! (I hadn't actually gotten to that part of the magazine yet.

I know we had talked about February.I'm still behind on the whole thing... Maybe it will turn into Marchmas. ;)

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get to 50 videos... that's what happens when you post twice a year. ;)
