In which I deviate from my plan of EPIC VIDEO AWESOME to talk about the happenings of the last couple of days.

There were teenagers DDRing in the room next to my usual filming location, so I’m in the corner of my bedroom for this one, just in case you’re curious!

I would like to encourage you to visit the following blogs, which were affected by the pattern theft. These pages include some of the most talented indie designers around!

I was mortified on all your behalfs. Just enraged. And the more I looked through their site, the angrier I got, at them and the people buying from them, when it was obvious much of the stuff was scanned right out of published books. I'm angry now again just thinking about it. I was wishing I knew someone important or with any kind of clout just to really make this go insanely viral. Like George Takai or something. ;) There should be a way to press charges, surely some interstate commerce laws were broken here. Makes me wish I went to law school.

I was so angry that I spent most of Sunday shaking all over. There's a possibility I cursed as well. Ehem.

One of the people I've done some contract stuff for is taking law courses and told me that they went over a chapter in copyright law called "naming and shaming" which is exactly what we did. She told me that's generally much more effective than actual legal actions, which is kind of amazing!! All I'm hoping from here is that PayPal refunds the money made to the original customers. There's no way I'll ever know if that happens, but I hope it does.

i was thoroughly disgusted by it. It was just shameful!

I am so proud of our community for pulling together and making this right. It makes me almost speechless...almost! ;)

Happy 200!

I think the only "accident" involved was that s/he got caught.

I'm glad all those places are investigating, anyway. Hopefully at least that one person won't do it again, though general thievery seems to thrive on the internet.

I suspect it was more than one person. It was awfully slick and well thought out, except for that whole thing about stealing. ;)

Yayyyy 200! Although it's certainly a pity that this had to be the topic, you can definitely be proud of the accomplishment you helped to spearhead. As snowie44 called them...pathetic. It was really inspiring to watch the whole process of the craft community mobilising in such a way!
